St. Benilde MAPEH 8

MAPEH 8 encompasses Music, Art, Physical Education, and Health. Music includes the music of Southeast Asia; East Asia; South, West, and Central Asia; and Asian theater traditions. Art presents the art of Southeast Asia; East Asia; South, Central, and West Asia; and practices of Asia. Physical Education discusses health-related fitness, team sports, indoor recreational activities, and regional and national dances with Asian influences. Health includes mental and emotional health, disease prevention and control, consumer health, and safety and first aid.

General Objectives

1. Demonstrate awareness of the importance of music in all aspects of life
2. Demonstrate understanding of sounds heard, sensitivity to rhythmic and melodic characteristics, musical pieces with different harmonies
and texture, sensitivity to music in different forms and styles
3. Enrich one’s musical concepts like listening, singing, playing, reading, and creating
4. Demonstrate understanding of art, its relationship to different aspects of life, its characteristics, and its elements through the opportunities
for creating, expressing, and honing skills
5. Manifest sensitivity to form and style of some examples of Asian art and appreciation of a work of art especially of the Asians as
multi-cultural society
6. Demonstrate understanding of health-related fitness
7. Manifest basic knowledge and skills in team sports, indoor recreational activities, and regional and national dances with Asian influences
8. Demonstrate understanding of physical fitness and supplemental activities
9. Recognize the importance of mental and emotional health, disease prevention and control, consumer health, and safety and first aid
