I. San Diego Study Center Inc (SDSC)

The SDSC is the parochial NON-PROFIT pre-school of the Parish of San Diego, Silay City. It was founded by the late Msgr. Danilo Paderna in 1997 together with Mrs. Erlinda Ledesma, Chair of the Education Committee of the Parish Pastoral Council. They started with two classrooms for Nursery, Kinder and Prep with 60+ enrollees. Today, they have almost 500 pupils with seven classrooms. Each class have two teachers, one as head teacher and the other as assistant. All head teachers and most assistants are LET passers.

The school's primary mission is to provide low-cost quality Catholic Christian education to pre-schoolers. Tuition and other fees are kept low mainly because except for the teachers, school administrators serve for voluntarily for free.


II. The Scholarship Program of the Parish

This was started in the year 2002 by Fr. Felix Pasquin, the parish priest after Msgr. Paderna. Funds were initially sourced from two private donors from the US. Today, two local donors have also contributed to the program. The program was likewise entrusted to Mrs. Erlinda Ledesma for management.

So far, this program has produced 4 teachers, 1 civil engineer and is currently assisting 6 students (different levels) in college in spite of minimal funding.

In view of the fact that the school now has it's own SEC registration and thus, can now accept donations, the parish scholarship program will be added as a secondary mission of the school. Therefore, beginning SY 2014, the school will also accept donations/funding from private donors to augment the present college scholarships or subsidy for poor but deserving students. Right now, the small amount collected is enough only for tuition for 3 students and a small allowance subsidy for the 3 others. Hopefully with increased funding, we can send at least 6 freshmen students to college next school year.
