It was organized in 1960 by a group of British companies, namely: Ker and Co., Ltd, Sun Insurance Office Ltd., Phoenix Assurance Co. and Union Insurance Society of Canton, Ltd. The Wong Chu King family bought the share of Ker & Co. in 1980. In 1987, the family took full control of the Company.
