This Parish had been imbued with the spirit of the Augustinian Recollection since the time it was entrusted to the pastoral care of the Recollect Fathers. Throughtout its brief history, the faithful have always cherished the apostolic solicitude of Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II during their respective papal visits to this humble parish in 1970 and 1981. Pope Paul VI, together with the Archbishop of Manila, Rufino Cardinal Santos, officially erected the parish on March 16,1971. What used to be a Small Chapel at the corner of Matimtiman and Mithi Streets in Barangay Fuguso, Tondo, is now a symbol of living hope in the midst of a densely populated district.
