LUCA HIGH SCHOOL

Luca High School officially opened its doors for enrollment on June 1, 2009 in Brgy. Luca, Tanjay City. As a new high school, it started its humble beginning by sharing a campus with the Luca Elementary School. For its first school year, it resided in one of the classrooms in the elementary with 2 teachers, and a principal to 46 students, 19 males and 27 females.

By the school year 2010-2011, it opened an additional level. Still having no high school building, brought about by the problem on site ownership, the second year students held classes in Brgy. Hall while the first year students held in one of the classrooms in the elementary school. This time, Luca High School has a total of 100 students: 49 males and 52 females, with the Principal in the person of Mr. Genaro V. Antonio and four teachers namely: Mr. Christopher E. Zerna, Mr. Melbin A. Navarro III, Mr. Herbert M. Gabuc and Mrs. Dizza F. Reyes; two are nationally paid while the other two are para-teachers.

Luca High School is directly under the supervision of the Department of Education, Division of Tanjay City and is being regulated by the existing guidelines of the Basic Education Act of 2001 or Governance of Basic Education Curriculum which was first implemented in SY 2002-2003. under this curriculum, there are (5) learning areas namely: Filipino, English, Science, Math, and Makabayan. Makabayan is composed of four areas: Araling Panlipunan (AP), Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH), Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), and Edukasyon sa Pagpapahalaga (EP). With the introduction of the SEC 2010 (Secondary Education Curriculum) the approach, Understanding by Design (UbD), subjects in the first year curriculum followed the new curriculum while the second year followed BEC as mandated by Department of Education.

The establishment of Luca High School is a "brainchild" of the Barangay Luca Officials headed by Hon. Denver M. Bokingkito. The council had the vision of having a secondary school two or three years before the school was finally opened on June 1, 2009.
