Institute for Governance and Development - igovern, Inc.

The Institute for Governance and Development, Inc., (IGovern for brevity) is a non-stock non-profit organization established in September 2001. Initially, IGovern was organized to promote good governance in the province of Nueva Ecija. Its primary task was to conduct trainings and seminars for LGUs and other NGOs in development management, leadership and organizing.

The Board of Directors of IGovern come from the professions of lawyers, social workers, community organizers, media and some business people who long to have a good government.

IGovern exists primarily to contribute in the development of the rural poor. It is not intended to implement development projects that will only answer immediate needs of the people while the cycle of poverty continues. I Govern dreams of sustainable development - a development that will not sacrifice the future of the next generation.

The rural areas have been the hub of poverty ever since. The poor are the victims of the negative impact of development. IGovern’s way to prevent the total destruction of the environment and the socio-cultural values of the rural poor is to conduct education and training on man’s basic rights such as right to life, liberty, property and the right to happiness.

Realizing that education and training is not enough to organize and convince the people to the path of change, IGovern embarks on various programs and services and expanded its area of operation which to this day continues.
