More about IFADT - The Institute For Assistance Dog Training

The Institute for Assistance Dog Training is an informal, non-stock, non-government, non-charity, volunteer, non-profit, organization that strives to assist health and social work professionals, students, and Persons with a Disability and their families learn about Assistance Dog training.

We have been grassroots advocates for Rights of Access to all public places and modes of transportation for medically certified Persons with a Disability accompanied by their specifically trained certified Assistance Dogs for the past twenty years in Canada, the U.S., Turks & Caicos Islands, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Israel, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, and now here in the Philippines.

On a volunteer basis, we offer disability associations assistance in the planning, implementation, and management of a low-cost Assistance Dog Evaluation and Certification program. We have done this successfully in Israel and six countries in Latin America, using Skype, Youtube, and email messaging to interview, coach, train, and evaluate the applicants’ and their Assistance Dogs’ progress.

We also offer free seminars and workshops on Assistance Dog Training, and workshops on Rights of Access for Persons with a Disability accompanied by a certified Assistance Dog, on a volunteer basis, at no cost.

We freely distribute information explaining the tasks and benefits of Assistance Dogs, strive to educate the public regarding national and international laws protecting the Rights of Access for Persons with a Disability, and distribute documentation addressing the problem of non-disabled persons parking their vehicles in spaces normally reserved for Persons with a Disability.

Through our no-cost members-only web page, we make available weekly newsletters regarding Assistance Dog Training, distribute a 237-page Assistance Dog training manual, all at no cost.

We do not give dog training classes to the general public for a fee, do not sell Assistance Dog Certification Permits, nor do we charge the public for Assistance Dog Evaluation services.. We are not a business or charity, and do not request or accept donations.
