Barangay San Roque was named after its Patron San Roque. People inhabiting in this Barrio has been a constant believer of the aforementioned Patron due to it power to heal those who are suffering in a particular illness.
Barangay San Roque are also recognized to its another name which is “aliw’, because it is known as a center of entertainment. Most of the people residing in neighbor cities that are seeking for enjoyment or entertainment go in this place because of the business establishment located at this locality.
Three months after the declaration of Martial Law, all the Barrio in the Philippines was changed into Barangay through Presidential Decree Nos. 86 and 86-A. The legal base of its creation was the Presidential Decree 557 and this was ratified on September 21, 1974. This provide broader base for citizen participation in the democratic process. This also gives the people residing in the Barangay ample opportunity to express their views on important national and local issues. Barangay has been administrative arms of the government as part of the delivery system of goods and services to the people at the community level
