B. V. Closa Central School

A market place turned into a fountain of knowledge and wisdom. Bernardo V. Closa Central started serving in the year 1952 with only one class per grade level and during the school year 1957 – 1958 the first batch of grade six pupils proudly marched up the stage to receive their Elementary Certificate.
Bernardo V. Closa Central School is specifically situated at Real Street, Brgy. Bito, Abuyog, Leyte, and is about four blocks of Northof Saint Francis Xavier Parish Church approximately one (1) kilometre away from the heart of the town Abuyog. It has a total land area of Lot A = 5,445 sq. m. and Lot B = 5,000 sq. m. It is surrounded by residential houses with narrow vacant lot along Real St. is located in the North by Liberation Street and in the East by Bonifacio Street and in the South by President Osmeña Street.
At present, it has twelve (12) school buildings, nine (9) of which needs major repair and the rest needs minor repair. All classrooms are provided with comfort rooms, water and lighting facilities. Once a market place building is now utilized as administration building for the District EMIS, Record Section, School EMIS, Offices of the District Supervisor and Central School Principal, respectively.
The BVCCS has a population of 740 in 2014 – 2015 distributed among the 20 classes. The school has 24 regular teachers actually teaching, 2 Special Subject Teachers, 1 of which was assigned as District Property Custodian and the other 1 is a Home Economics teacher and In-Charge of Canteen, 1 Kindergarten teacher and 1 Kinder Volunteer Teacher, 1 District ALS Coordinator, 1 Mobile ALS and 1 Utility Worker. All of these are manned under the Transformational Leadership of a Principal II who has good managerial skills.
With the collaboration and continuous support of the school GPTA and LGU to implement the DepEd programs and projects, the school is able to achieve a very satisfactory result in line with the School Based Management (SBM). Through the active leadership of the GPTA president, problems of the school are being discussed and solutions are identified to address the underlying needs of the pupils to improve academic performance and learning outcomes. On the other hand, the LGU immediately acts on all requests of the School Head for school improvements and priorities are given emphasis.
