HISTORY OF ANGONO PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL

The origin of Angono Private High School can be traced back to the year 1953. It was the first secondary school established in the town of Angono by the men and women behind Juan Sumulong Memorial Schools System.

The first school building was the residence of the late Mr. Lope Aguinaldo. It had only 5 classrooms, 119 students and 8 teachers headed by Miss Remedios N. Reyes. The next years saw the need for a bigger space to accommodate the increasing enrollees. Hence, the school was transferred to its present site. It was in 1957 when the leadership was transferred to Miss Liwayway G. Sanvictores as Principal of the school and in 1975 was promoted to the rank of the Director of Juan Sumulong Memorial Schools System. For the next twenty-eight solid years, APHS metamorphosed into a magnanimous institution under the very able hands of Mrs. Emelina B. Medina-Ramos. The next five years saw its growth under the keen management of Mrs. Norma V. Sanchez-Medina.

At present, the leadership is well-taken care of by Dr. Reynaldo D. Faustino. It has 1,011 students, 32 teachers, 14 classrooms with 2 air-conditioned computer rooms, a Science laboratory, a Technology and Livelihood Education room, an Audio-Visual room and an air-conditioned library.

The members of the Board of Trustees to continue their dedication and service to the community added a new home for APHS. Located at Brgy. Pag-asa, Binangonan, Rizal, more classrooms and facilities were built in this new site to cater to the needs of the students. MAPEH classes, programs and convocations are held on its spacious ground.

Year 2010 saw the birth of the APHS Elementary Department located at the New Site . It has 5 faculty members headed by the very exuberant Mrs. Editha Castillo-Fuentes. Young children are provided with a well-rounded foundation and total personality development making them prepared to face the world of the future.

Angono Private High School is an active member of RIPRISA (Rizal Private Schools Association, Inc.) and a certified ESC participating school under the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE). This means APHS has complied with the standards and has conformed to the policies and regulations of the Department of Education. As a recipient school of the ESC Program, APHS can better serve the community with the financial assistance from the government.

As the first secondary school in Angono, she has produced a big number of prominent individuals successful in their chosen field. To mention a few, Hon. Manuel R. Sanchez, Gen. Virtus V. Gil, Sir Tito V. Tolentino, Gen. Ameto G. Tolentino, Miss Aurora A. Villamayor, Prof. Agripino V. Diestro, Rev.Fr. Arnel S. Vitor, Star Cinema Director Catherine Garcia-Molina, GMA Newscaster Sandra Aguinaldo-Rodica and Hon.Mayor Gerardo V. Calderon. These admirable people can reflect, that once, they belong to the school where they are loved.

On her 59th year of existence, APHS pledges to continue her genuine service to the youth; to develop talents and inculcate positive values among students. The primary commitment of her first founders, to educate people will linger in the hearts and minds of her constituents.
