The Group’s flagship Company is Tagum Agricultural Development Corporation (TADECO). It is engaged in the production and export of fresh Cavendish bananas to Japan, Hongkong, China, Korea, Middle East and Singapore, under the Del Monte brand. TADECO, during its organization in 1950, first made its mark in abaca (i.e. the raw material for twines, ropes and specialty papers) cultivation before shifting into banana production. The Company has grown to become one of the biggest banana producers today and has garnered the recognition of being the largest contiguous banana plantation in the world, producing more than 32 million boxes annually. Its multi-faceted operations led to the creation of satellite Companies dedicated to providing services essential to carrying out the operation of a banana plantation. Its trucking, corrugated boxes and plastic manufacturing, arrastre and stevedoring and, cold storage leasing services, coalesce into a strong synergized network of affiliates and subsidiaries driving towards the unified objective of propelling its flagship Company’s operations.
