ANAKPAWIS was founded on January 23, 2002 as the national party whose goal is to promote the patriotic and democratic aspirations of the workers, peasants, fisherfolk, indigenous people, poor in cities and countryside and other oppressed sectors of Philippine society.

One of the top in the history of party-list elections, ANAKPAWIS was officially recognized by the COMELEC on December 30, 2003. In its first participation in the 2004 elections, ANAKPAWIS won two seats in Congress in the person of the late labor leader named Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran and peasant leader Rafael "Ka Paeng" Mariano.

In Congress, ANAKPAWIS filed numerous bills and resolutions and carried out important projects in various parts of the country. This includes the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill (GARB), P125 Wage Hike Across-The-Board Nationwide, P6,000 Salary Increase for Government Employees, repeal of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act or EPIRA, the repeal of the Oil Deregulation Law, which all corresponding to the interests of the toiling masses.

Since the representatives of ANAKPAWIS actually came from the ranks of the masses, it remains stable and firmly in contention for the people.

Its Program of Actions:

1. ADVANCE development of self-reliant economy by implementing Genuine Agrarian Reform and National Industrialization;

2. UPHOLD the rights to life, fair and living wages and organizing;

3. ASSERT the right of farmers to land. Promote food sovereignty and adequate and sustainable production;

4. DEFEND the rights of fishermen to the natural resources of the oceans and fisheries;

5. UPHOLD the rights of the people to decent housing and livelihoods, and defend them against the demolition and displacement;

6. UPHOLD the patriotic and scientific culture and the fundamental rights of the people to free education;

7. FIGHT for the rights of women and children against discrimination and all forms of abuse and exploitation;

8. UPHOLD the right to self-determination of the Bangsa Moro, Cordillera and other national minorities;

9. UNIFY the solidarity and cooperation among organizations and progressive party of workers and farmers around the world;

10. DEFEND the rights of the people against any foreign intervention, domination and control.

Anyone aged 18 years and older who accepts the Program and Constitution of ANAKPAWIS can join.

Chapters can be formed at communities, factories, farms, schools and villages, wherever there are 15 members.
