March 16, 1959 marked the day when Cagayan Valley Sanitarium & Hospital was established by pioneers led by Dr. Celedonio A. Fernando, Fellow of the Philippine College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons.
CVSH started as a 12-bed hospital located at Dubinan East, Santiago, Isabela in the old Northeast Luzon Mission building with medical equipment donated by friends abroad and by the Loma Linda Alumni Association.
July 24, 1969 saw the inauguration of the new CVSH building at its present site at Mabini, Santiago City, Isabela with a 50-bed capacity.
