STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Holy Scriptures. We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the plenarily, verbally inspired Word of God, authoritative, inerrant, infallible and God-breathed. (II Tim. 3: 16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18; I Cor. 2:10-13).

a. The Godhead. We believe in one triune God, existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, eternal in being, identical in essence, equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfections. (Duet. 6:4; II Cor. 13-14).

b. The Total Depravity of Man. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, became alienated from God, and is totally unable to regain its former position. (Gen. 1:26; 3:1-24; Rom. 3:23; 5:12; Eph.2:12).

c. The Person and Work of Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. We believe that He accomplished our redemption through His death on the Cross as a substitutionary sacrifice. We believe that our redemption and salvation is guaranteed to us by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (John1:1,14,18; Luke 1:35; Rom. 3:24-26; 4:25).

d. The Personality of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He also in the present age regenerates believers in Christ, baptizes them into the church, the body of Christ, indwells them permanently, seals them unto the day of redemption, bestows spiritual gifts upon each one, and fills those yielded to Him. (John 15:26,27; 16:7-15; 3:8; I Cor. 12:13; John 14:16: Eph. 4:30; I Cor. 12:4-11; Eph.5:18). We believe that certain of the spiritual gifts of the Spirit to the church, such as apostleship, prophecy and tongues, were temporary were needed only in the infancy of the church and are not to be expected today. (I Cor. 13:8-11).

e. Salvation. We believe that salvation is a gift of God in grace and is received by man through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. (Eph. 1:8-9; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7).

f. Regeneration. We believe the scriptures teach that regeneration, or the new birth, is that change in the soul by the Holy Spirit, by which a new nature and spiritual life, not before possessed, are imparted, and the person becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus; and without it salvation is impossible. (John 3:3-6; II Cor. 5:17; I Peter 1:23).

g. Sanctification. We believe that immediate, positional sanctification is that act of God whereby believers are, at the time of regeneration, eternally set apart as belonging to Him by redemption, thereby being placed in the family of God as children, joint heirs with Jesus Christ. (I John 3:1; Rom. 8:14-17; I Cor. 1:2; Heb. 10:10-14). We believe that progressive sanctification is the process by which, according to God’s will, we are partakers of His holiness, that it is progressive; that it is begun in regeneration; that it progresses if the believer is yielded to the Spirit’s control; that it is carried on in the hearts of believers by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit though the Word of God, self examination, watchfulness and prayer (I Thess. 4:3; Eph 6:18; John 17:17). We believe that ultimate sanctification will be the portion of every believer, when finally in the presence of the Lord, complete and entire, with soul and spirit united in the resurrected body, free from every trace or effect of sin and rebellion. (I John 3:1; I Cor. 15: 52-54; Eph. 4:30; 5:27; and Phil 4:20-21).

h. The Eternal Security of the Believer. The salvation of every believer is secure for all eternity from the moment of regeneration. This security is guaranteed by the fact that the life received is eternal life, by the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit, by the intercession of Christ by placing into God’s family as children (Rom. 8:1, 29-30; John 10:27-30; Heb. 7:25; Eph. 4:30; John 3:3-7; Eph. 3:15).

i. The Church. We believe that all in this age who are truly born again are baptized by the Holy Spirit into virtual union with Christ and into the universal church which is His body and Bride. Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-13 Gal. 3:27). We believe that each local church is a visible expression of a portion of the Body of Christ, and is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, organized for worship and service, observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper, and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word. (Acts 2:41; 14:27; I Tim. 3: 1-13; Titus 1:5-11; I Cor. 3: 10-17; 5: 1-5: 11:2).

j. Church Ordinances. We believe that the Lord Jesus instituted two ordinances to be observed by all believers until His return. We believe that baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ, into the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to show forth by solemn and beautiful symbolism our identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection (Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:36; I Peter 3:21). We believe that the Lord’s supper is partaking of bread and the fruit of the vine, as symbols of Christ’s body and blood, commemorating His suffering and death for us, and His imminent return for the saints (called the rapture) and our continual benefit there from: that participation should be limited to those who have united to the local church by baptism and testimony, or those visitors who are baptized members of churches of like faith and order; and that members or visitors known to be under disciplinary action of this church or another church should be excluded from participation.(I Cor. 11:23-32; 5:1-5: Matt. 18:15-17).

k. The Responsibility of Believers. We believe that all believers should seek to walk by the Spirit, not bringing reproach upon the Lord and Savior, exercising Christian liberty regulated by love, separated from worldly pleasures and practices, separated from organizational association with apostate groups (Rom. 12: 1-2; Gal. 6:1; II Cor. 8:1-13).

We believe that it is the responsibility of all believers to witness by life and by word to the truths of the Holy Scriptures and to assume responsibility for the propagation of the gospel to all the world. (Acts1:8). We believe that it is the responsibility of all believers to remember the work of the local church and its extension ministries in prayer, to support it with their tithes and offerings as the Lord prospers them, to participate in all the regular services of the church as the Lord enables, and to voluntarily submit to the watch care and discipline of the church. (I Cor. 16:2; Heb. 10:19-25; 13:17-18).

m. The Second Coming of Christ. We believe in the personal pretribulational, imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His own, the church, and His subsequent personal return visibly to the earth to establish His Kingdom and to reign over the entire earth from the throne of David. (II Sam. 7:12-16; Zech. 14: 4-11; Luke 1:30-33; Acts 15:14-18; I Thess. 4: 13-18; I Cor. 15:51-52; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:6).

n. The Eternal State. We believe that the souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation do at death immediately pass into His presence, and there remain in conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming, when soul and body reunited shall be associated with Him forever in glory, but the souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery unto the final judgment of the Great White Throne at the close of the millennium, when soul and body reunited shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to be punished with ever-lasting separation from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. (Luke 16:19-26; 23:43; II Cor. 55:8; Phil. 1:23; II Thess. 1:7-9; Rev. 20: 11-15).

o. The Devil, Or Satan
We believe that Satan was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honors; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels; that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air, and the unholy god of this world. We hold him to be man's great tempter, the enemy of God and His Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the chief power back of the present apostasy; the lord of the antichrist, and the author of all the powers of darkness - destined however to final defeat at the hands of God's own Son, and to the judgment of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.

p. The Creation
We believe in the Genesis account of creation and that it is to be accepted literally, and not allegorically or figuratively; that man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness; that man’s creation was not a matter of evolution or evolutionary change of species, or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher forms; that all animal and vegetable life was made directly and God’s established law was that they should bring for only “after their kind.” Since God created mankind into genders distinctly male and female, we believe that the only legitimate marriage is that between a man and a woman. He has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God rejects any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.

q. The Virgin Birth
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can ever be born of a woman, and that He is both the Son of God, and God, the Son.

r. The Atonement For Sin
We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, Who by appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyr, but was the voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place, the Just dying for the unjust, Christ, the Lord, bearing our sins in His own body on the tree; that, having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection, He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate and an all sufficient Savior.

s. The Justification
We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in Him is Justification; that Justification includes the pardon of sin, and the gift of eternal life on principles of righteousness; that it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done; but solely through faith in the Redeemer's blood, His righteousness is imputed unto us.

t. The Repentance And Faith
We believe that Repentance and Faith are solemn obligations, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the quickening Spirit of God; thereby, being deeply convicted of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and openly confessing Him as our only and all-sufficient Savior.

u. The Civil Government
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ; who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth.

v. The Missions
The command to give the gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and this Commission was given to the churches.
Matthew 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and, lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
John 20:21, "As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you."
Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Romans 10:13-15, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

w. The Grace Of Giving
Scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the Faith.
2Corinthians 8:7, "Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also."
We are commanded to bring our gifts into the storehouse (common treasury of the church) upon the first day of the week.
1Corinthians 16:2, "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come." Under Grace we give, and do not pay, the tithe - "Abraham GAVE the tenth of the spoils," - Hebrews 7:2,4 - and this was four hundred years before the law, and is confirmed in the new Testament; Jesus said concerning the tithe, "these ought ye to have done", Matthew 23:23.
We are commanded to bring the tithe into the common treasury of the church.
Leviticus 27:30, "The tithe ... is the Lord's."Malachi 3:10, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
In the New Testament it was the common treasury of the church.
Acts 4:34,35,37, "And brought the prices of the things that were sold and laid them down at the apostles' feet ... Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it AT THE APOSTLES' FEET."
