Saint Lawrence Martyr Quasi-Parish

Created on November 19, 2008, the First Sunday of Advent, the Quasi-Parish of Saint Lawrence the Martyr of the Diocese of Legazpi covers 10 barangays of Camalig, Albay (Binitayan, Comun, Del Rosario, Mabunga, Maninila, Panoypoy, Solong, Taloto, Taplacon, and Cotmon as center).

Later in the first half of 2009, Fr. Domingo Penilla, pastor of Jovellar parish, recommended the annexation of 2 Jovellar barangays (Florista and Salvacion) to the Quasi-parish.

From June to December 2009, a mission orienting the people about the new Quasi-parish setup was carried on in the parish territory by a team of Redemptorists led by Fr. Remar Soliza. It centered on a basic catechism on the faith and the Church, coupled with training and organization of leaders.

Saint Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, who is patron of Barangay Cotmon and whose feast is celebrated on August 10, was adopted as the Quasi-parish patron saint.

The Quasi-parish foundation day is celebrated annually on November 19.
