More about Leon Manigbas Elementary School

Leon Manigbas Elementary School established in 1993 through the effort and initiative of Sangguniang Barangay headed by the late Barangay Captain Domingo Ilagan. Mrs. Warlyn Dimaculangan was the first assigned teacher in this school which was formerly known as San Jose Primary School. It was first located at the chapel land owned by Reynaldo Ilagan.

After Mrs. Dimaculangan was assigned and transferred to other school, Mrs Flaviana Clerigo took place. A multi-grade combination classes was handled by her from 1994 up to 2004. It was a combination of Grades I and II only during that year.

With the helped of the District Supervisor Mrs. Edna A. Macatangay, Grade I and II class was transferred into a newly constructed one-classroom FVR building in the year 2000. Then another two-classroom building was constructed in the year 2003 from Governor Hermilando H. Mandanas.

On October 11, 2004, Mrs. Elisa D. Manalo was transferred in this school in place of Mrs. Clerigo who went abroad. She handled the same grade level. After two years, Grade Three and Four classes were opened through her initiative. A locally funded teacher, Mrs. Aurea M. Gajon came into existence. She handled Grade III and IV. Enrolment became bigger and bigger. After a year, another grade level opened. Another locally funded teacher was assigned to handle Grades IV and V classes. She was Mrs. Lerma U. Lacuenta.

After so much hardwork and appealing to the higher authorities, Leon Manigbas was finally completed in the year 2008 with the helped of the District Supervisor Mr. Dominador A. Umali. From a combination classes it turned now into a single class. Grade I class was handled by Miss Gemma C. Montuano, a newly hired nationally funded teacher. Grade II class was handled by Mrs. Elisa D. Manalo who became the school's Teacher-In-Charge. Grade III was handled by Mrs. Aurea M. Gajon, a newly promoted teacher from locally funded to nationally funded. Miss Ruby Riza Morales, a LSB Teacher handled the Grade IV class. Miss Mylene R. Zara, nationally funded teacher handled Grade V class and Miss Elly A. Canarias, a newly hired nationally funded teacher who handled Grade VI class. They were the first set of teachers from the time that Leon Manigbas was finally completed.

Through the initiative of Mrs. Elisa D. Manalo with the help of Sangguniang Barangay Headed by Captain Benito L. Ilagan, a DPWH and VSR Type Building were constructed in two consecutive years.

As of now the school site was 1014 sq. meters.

At present the said institution has 165 enrollees handled by six teachers, with four nationally funded and two locally funded teachers.
